Finished Posters

Printing

On the computer the design to the left was the one that I thought worked best, but once they were printed and asked a few people their opinions on which colour way works best. They all said that the text is clearest in the one on the right. This has taught me the importance of printing out my work while designing it so I can make sure the colours and everything look right.

Type and Image Experimentation

After altering the composition and colours in my design i have decided that this is the one that worked best. I thin that the composition is good and the page is well balanced.

Responding to the Crit

From the crit i decided to re look at my designs as I didn't think that they worked as a set. Someone suggested that I make the designs more minimal so I have redone them in a simplistic way.

I also rethought my type and image design, instead the type is now pros and cons on the Hinckley deal.

Colour scheme. I decided to use black and yellow in my posters, this is because these are the colours that are used in the nuclear hazard sign.

Crit

Feedback from todays crit.

Possible Outcomes

From the crit one of the suggestions was that I look at different colours. I decided to look at the colour scheme used in the nuclear hazard signs which are yellow and black I choose to introduce white as well as it is a minimal colour. Below is my design in the three different combinations.

I think that this colour combination works well, both the "NU" and "UN" are clear and visible.
This one does not work at all. The text is unclear with the yellow and the white background makes it look boring and bland. Nuclear should be more bright bold and in your face.

I think that this is the one that has worked best. The text is clear and the overlapping letters don't look confusing.

Finished Illustrator Typeface

This is my finished illustrator typeface. My word that influenced it was permanent. I wanted the letters to looks as strong and structured as possible. I experimented with the crossbars and adding extra structure to the letters. I thought of them as buildings, when i was thinking about how I would reinforce and support them.

Type and Image Design Idea 2

The concept of this design is to show how at risk nearby towns and cities are if there were an accident at Hinkley.

Type and Image Design Idea

My idea was to have an image of a power station and type that looked like smoke that was coming from the power station.

Image Design Idea

Upon reading that the waste from Hinckley Point C would be buried  I thought how if it leaked back up it could interrupt the food chain and  ecosystem. My idea was to create an illustration showing how the nuclear waste could effect the food that we grow and eat.

Mono-printing Workshop

During the mono-printing workshop we were tough how to properly roll out the inks and we shown different techniques. I found the session very useful as I was able to do a lot of experimentation with layers and the positives and negatives or the shapes.

Failed Type

One of my ideas was to have the words "Is it worth it?" glowing green to look radioactive. I found it very hard to get to text to look like it was glowing, so i do not think that this is an idea I will be working with.

Type Design Ideas

The concept behind this idea is how a nuclear future is a very unclear future for the future. For two reasons, there could be an accident at the plant at any time, and also how the times reported how the deal could fall through. I experimented with different ways to overlap the "N" and "U".
Using photoshop I tried to overlap the letters with different fonts and colours. I found it hard to made both of the letters legible.
